Collection: Vacuum Skin Packing Machine (VSP)

About Vacuum Skin Packing Machine (VSP)

A vacuum skin packing machine (VSP) heats a top film and uses vacuum pressure to draw it tightly over the product and seal it to a tray or backing board. The film clings like a second skin to the product, removing all air and holding juices in place. This gives fresh meat, seafood, poultry, cheese and ready meals a premium presentation with extended shelf life, reduced purge loss and leak-proof packs that can be displayed vertically. VSP is often chosen over modified atmosphere packaging for premium retail presentation.

How to Choose

  • Tray and backing size range plus maximum film width
  • Vacuum pump quality and consistent vacuum level
  • Skin film compatibility with your tray materials
  • Automation level: manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic
  • Hygienic stainless steel design and easy washdown

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between vacuum skin packing and normal vacuum packing?
A: Normal vacuum packing draws a bag tight around the product, while vacuum skin packing uses a heated film that is pulled down over the product and sealed to the whole tray surface, creating a wrinkle-free second-skin look with better presentation.

Q: Which products benefit most from VSP?
A: Fresh meat, steaks, seafood, poultry, cheese and ready meals with sauces benefit most because the film holds juices in place, prevents freezer burn and extends shelf life while showing the product clearly.

Q: Can VSP packages be displayed upright?
A: Yes. Because the film seals to the entire tray surface, the pack is leak-proof and can be displayed vertically, saving shelf space in retail displays.

Q: What film and tray materials are needed?
A: Skin packs use a multi-layer top film and a rigid tray or paperboard backing, such as PET, PP or paperboard. The machine and materials must be matched for reliable sealing.
