How to Automatically Label Beer Cans: The Fully Automatic Round Bottle Labeler
Share
Labeling beer cans at high speed and with perfect precision is a critical step in modern beverage production. The machinery that makes this possible is the Fully Automatic Round Bottle Labeling Machine. This advanced system is engineered specifically to handle the cylindrical shape of cans and apply self-adhesive labels flawlessly, ensuring every can is market-ready.
Here’s a breakdown of how this automated process works:
1. Feeding & Positioning (Infeed)
Cans are fed automatically into the labeling machine via a conveyor belt. An indexing screw or a starwheel gently separates and positions the cans at a precise fixed distance from each other. This ensures consistent spacing and prepares them for the labeling process at high speeds.
2. Label Dispensing (The Heart of the System)
This is the key differentiator for a pressure-sensitive (or "sticky label") machine:
-
A roll of pre-printed self-adhesive labels (the "liner") is loaded onto the machine.
-
The liner is fed through a set of precision rollers.
-
A peeling plate sharply reverses the direction of the liner, causing the label to separate from its backing paper.
-
The now-exposed adhesive side of the label is presented at a precise point, ready for application.
3. Label Application & Wrapping
The aluminum can is transported directly past the peeling plate. As it moves:
-
Application Pad: A mechanical or pneumatic pad presses the leading edge of the exposed label onto the surface of the can.
-
Can Rotation: The motion of the conveyor, often aided by a rolling belt or brushes underneath, causes the can to rotate smoothly.
-
Wrap-Around: The rotation pulls the rest of the label neatly and tightly around the entire circumference of the can.
4. Smoothing & Finishing
Immediately after application, the labeled can passes through brushes or sponge pads. These finishing units apply gentle, even pressure to smooth out the label, eliminate any air bubbles, and ensure a permanent, wrinkle-free bond with the curved metal surface.
5. Exit (Outfeed)
The perfectly labeled cans are then conveyed out of the machine to the next stage of the packaging line, typically a packer or case sealer.
