  • Tank size — 24–500 L typical; larger tanks stabilize pressure and cut cycling.
  • Power, phase and lubrication — HP/kW, single vs. 3-phase, oil-lubricated vs. oil-free for clean air.

Q: Should I choose a piston or screw air compressor?
A: Pick a piston unit for intermittent workshop use (50–75% duty cycle) where lower cost matters; choose a rotary screw for continuous 8+ hour operation, quieter running and 100% duty. Wrong choice risks overheating or overspend.

Q: How do I size the CFM and tank I need?
A: Add the CFM of all air tools, multiply by 1.3–1.5 for simultaneous use and growth, and size the tank (24–500 L) to buffer demand spikes. Undersizing causes pressure drops and premature failure, so build in headroom.
